Even better, the main component, the Light Wands, are manufactured right here in our Sunshine Coast factory in Queensland, Australia. Your lighting system can be installed at home by a handyman or by a licensed electrician if you’re wanting your transformer hard-wired into the ceiling. Our picture lighting system is non-invasive, easy to install and efficient! # Design Your Own # Lighting System # In Four Easy Steps 1. Measure your wall space. 2. Decide on the number of lights you require. 3. Choose your kit by factoring in the answers to 1 & 2 - The Micro Kit: Runs up to 6 lights (over approx. 6m of track) - The Mini Kit: Runs up to 8 lights (over approx. 9m of track) - The Maxi Kit: Runs up to 18 lights (over approx. 20m of track)\* Tracks come in either 2m or 3m lengths, in white powder-coated or silver-anodised finishes. 4. Choose the colour of your light wands and lamps. - Light Wands: The fittings on the stainless-steel wands come in white or black –and you can choose lamps to match. - Lamps: Available in 7-watt LED lamps (up to 40,000 hours) or 20-watt halogen(up to 5,000 hours). These clips will work with any of the [Gallery System](https://thegallerysystem.com/the-gallery-system/), [Slimline System](https://thegallerysystem.com/slimline-art-hanging-system/) or [Traditional Picture Rail](https://thegallerysystem.com/traditional-picture-rail-system/) hangers. Simply fit the HangRight Clips to the back of your picture frame, insert the hanger behind the clip and your picture will sit closer to the wall. Whilst the results will vary, it was found the HangRight Clips reduced the forward lean of most pieces by a minimum of 50% (when measured from the back of the piece to the wall). When we moved to a brand new house 18 months ago, we decided to use it throughout the house and also in the separate studio. The same result but in a completely different gallery space (warehouse) was achieved in my South Melbourne Studio/Gallery. I am now in the process of establishing Maleny Arts Retreat which will incorporate a gallery space of over 250 m². As my first choice of lighting is your Gallery Lighting, we will be using your system. The obvious benefits to me are low installation cost, low running cost, versatility, low heat and of course, the excellent overall effect of the lights on the artwork. Another benefit some people may overlook is that with the lighting system being direct onto the artwork, we are able to keep the rest of the lighting in the gallery to a minimum, if not delete it altogether, therefore minimizing any distraction from the artwork. Sign up today! **Q: What are my options for the aluminium track?** A: The original Gallery System track comes in 2 & 3m lengths and the Slimline track comes in 2m lengths. Both systems are available in powder coated white or anodised silver (satin) finishes. **Q: What if I want to paint the track?** A: Use the satin anodised silver finish; it’s receptive to most types of paint. Aerosol paint gives a much better finish than using a brush. **Q: Is the track pre-drilled?** A: No. The original Gallery System track hole spacing depends on the type of wall construction. The Slimline track is fitted to the wall using nylon ‘Wall Anchors’ and does not need to be drilled. See track installation directions on the website for more details. **Q: Are the systems easy to install?** A: Yes. Installation is a basic handyman job. There are detailed directions on our website. **Q: Can you hang more than one picture on each hanger?** A: Yes. Any number of pictures can be hung on one hanger as long as the weight does not exceed the maximum weight recommendations. See the website directions for maximum weights of hangers and hooks. **Q: Are samples available?** A: We offer sample boards which are a mini working systems and demonstrate both the Gallery and Slimline Systems. **Q: Can I cut the Stainless Steel Cable if the hangers are too long?** **A: NO, DO NOT CUT THE STAINLESS STEEL CABLE.** The cable comes in 2m lengths as standard (longer and shorter lengths are available in packs of 10). Each cable is cut and the end is heat sealed so it won’t fray. If you cut the cable it will fray and you won’t be able to thread on the adjustable hook. To solve the problem of long cables, coil any excess into a small circle and tuck the end through the coil two or three times. Hook this loop of cable over the adjustable hook behind the lowest picture on your cable hanger. **Q: What is the advantage of the Gallery Systems unique Picture Rail Hook design?** A: The unique design of our picture rail hook positions the stainless steel cable closer to the wall so your picture will sit at the correct angle and won’t lean too far forward. This is often a problem with old fashioned picture rail hooks. **Q: hat metals do the traditional picture rail hooks come in?** A: The traditional Picture Rail hooks come in either solid brass or solid stainless steel. They are lacquer finished to prevent tarnishing. The traditional picture rail hooks are sold in packs of 5. Each pack comes with 5 x picture rail hooks and 5 x 2m cables. **Q & A – Gallery Lighting System** **Q: Can the Gallery Lighting System be fitted to existing Gallery Systems installations?** A: Yes it can, though only to ‘The Gallery System’ track. The Slimline track is not designed to be used with the lighting system. **Q: How many lights will run off one transformer?** A: A 300VA transformer will run up to 12 x 20 watt dichroic lamps over a distance of 15m. Alternatively a 300va transformer will run up to 18 x 7 watt LED lamps over a distance of 20m. We also offer a 105 watt transformer which will run up to 4 lights over a distance of 3m. **Q: Can I use higher wattage lamps?** A: No. They may damage the system. **Q: Do I need an electrical contractor to install the system?** A: You are not legally obliged to use a licensed contractor with low voltage systems. Simple jobs can be installed by a handyman. Each transformer comes with a 240volt plug and lead which allows you to use and existing power point. If however you would like your system hardwired it must be installed by a licensed contractor. If in doubt use a contractor. **Q: How does the current reach the lamp?** A: Sharp probes on the light wand penetrate the cable in the track to make contact. This allows you to unclip the light wand and reposition on the track. **Q: How do I carry the power around corners?** A: The power cable bends around the corners. Special corner covers fit over the track to hide the blue power cable. **Q: Are the lamps adjustable on the light wands?** A: The lamp slides along the curved stainless steel rods of the light wand so you can aim the light anywhere from 60cm below the track. The lamps do not point side to side. This is not necessary as the light wand is easily unlocked from the track and can be repositioned to light art in another position. **Q: Is the Gallery Lighting System the only lighting needed in a hanging area?** A: No. The system is designed as feature lighting for your art so you will still need a central light fitting or similar to provide an overall level of lighting in the room. **Q: Can the lights damage the artwork?** A: No. Providing the correct lamps are used. Poor quality or incorrect lamps can cause problems of excess heat and ultra violet light which may fade colours. We recommend and sell Precise Constant Colour lamps by G.E. These lamps are used in major public galleries and G.E. guarantee that the light from these lamps will not damage your artwork. It can be easily cut to size with a hacksaw. For each length of track, you need to purchase one pack of 5 wall anchors to fix the track to the wall (screws not included). We now offer a pack of 25 Wall Anchors for larger installations (for every five lengths of track you need one pack of 25 Wall Anchors). **CUSTOM TRACK COLOURS** Do you want your track to match the colour of your walls? YES this is possible. Generally, Dulux colours and the sky is the limit on what colour you would like! Ask your distributor for more information on this. Butt them up against the ceiling or cornice, clip on the track and there are no unsightly holes or screws visible. The pack includes 10 x 2m cables (standard length) and 10 x track slides to hold the cable up into the track. Other lengths can also be ordered such as 1.5m, 1m and 3m lengths. This system allows you to fit the hangers at any point along the track. The ends of the cable are finished in our factory so they will not fray. If you have excess cable below the picture just coil the cable and tuck the tail end through the coil two or three times. It will then stay in place behind the picture. **DO NOT CUT THE CABLE AS IT WILL FRAY.** The maximum weight on one Gallery Systems Stainless Cable is 30kg (66 lbs). You may hang two or more pictures on one hanger. The flat tape offers advantages over other plastic hangers. Its wide area of grip means the hook won’t slip. The flat tape ensures that the hook always points outward ready to accept the picture. Cut the Clear Tape to size as needed. If you have any tape leftover you can purchase extra locking capsules separately. **Remember these hangers are inserted into the end of the track and you must leave at least a 4mm gap between each track for this purpose.** **The maximum weight on one Gallery Clear Tape Hanger is 15kg (33 lbs). Position the top holder (or side by side set of holders) roughly in position and feed the cables one by one into the acrylic fittings. Adjust by pressing the buttons so the acrylic holders are level (a spirit level may help) and at the right height. When the acrylic holders are all in position feed cables into the bottom fittings (with the push button grippers) until you have taken up the slack. Then push the cable down into the gripper using pliers. This compresses the spring in the top fitting and tensions the cable.The gripper will only release if you relieve the tension on the cable by pushing down the top button. Leave about 50mm of cable poking out the side hole in the fitting and cut the cable using good quality wire cutters. This saves you the trouble of locating the wall studs and means you can pre-drill the track,which saves time. Drill a 4mm hole in the centre of the length of track.Then drill the other holesat 50cm intervals. Decide on the height at which you want the track.Mark with a pencil at intervals measuring down from the ceiling to ensure the track is level. Using the track as a ruler mark with a pencil (see illustration 2). Mark the position of the centre hole on the wall, then tap a small nail into theplasterboard. If it happens to hit a wall stud, fix the track in place with a $2 5 \\mathsf { m m } \\times \\mathsf { 8 }$ gauge panhead screw,(see illustration 3) if not, fita plasterboard fitting. Mark the positions of the remaining holes. Remove the track and fit the 5mm wall plug into the holes (see illustration 4). If it won't go full depth the screw allows you to remove the wall plug, redrill and tryagain. Screw the track temporarily in place then, using the holes in the track as a guide,dril the remaining holes in the masonry. Combined with EITHER stainless cable hangers or Clearline hangers and adjustable hooks the system functions as a modern system. The improved design of the Traditional Picture Rail Hook positions the art much closer to the wall. This means the pictures will sit at the correct angle rather than leaning too far forward as they do with old fashioned picture rail hooks. The picture rail hooks are clear coated to prevent tarnishing. Each pack includes 5 x Stainless Steel Picture Rail Hooks and 5 x 2m Stainless Steel Cable OR 5 x 2m Clearline hangers.
